Marc Quinn

Marc is a young trainer with a passion for training winners. He has been around horses all of his life and like many in the industry, got his start with his father Pat Quinn who was also a trainer.

Marc has learnt from the bottom up and credits much of his skills to the solid grounding his father provided him from a young age.

Once the compulsory school education had been completed Marc went on to TOCAL agricultural school where he learnt all facets of agriculture and majored in horse husbandry, passing all stages with high distinctions.

Having a natural affinity with horses the world beckoned and an opportunity to broaden his skills arose in Ireland which he took with both hands. A stint with world renowned trainer Dermot Wells further added to the knowledge bank and broadening of his skill base. After travelling back to Australia he started a 4 year tenure with Crown Lodge under the leadership of John Hawkes and Peter Snowden with whom he greatly admires for their training methods.

His local and international knowledge has become invaluable in the way he approaches his training methods and believes in having a hands-on approach when it comes to his horses.

Marc got his own licence in 1994 and trained at Hawkesbury part time before moving to Port Macquarie in around 1999. An opportunity arose to become foreman for brother in law and successful trainer Tracey Batley where he spent several years before taking up a lead position at Bylong Stud. The move saw immediate success training multiple city winners and numerous country winners. Not long after he took up a job as foreman at Shipton Lodge for the Ruttley's where he thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the outstanding private training facility's.

In 2009, after the passing of his father, he returned to Port Macquarie to take over his father's training business where he had immediate success. He likes to keep his stable to a manageable size to ensure his horses receive the personal attention they deserve. This approach has served him well over the years with many successes including: Pentasia, Paraded, Falklands, Muskatell, Cultural and Lucy O'Charlemagne.

Marc has earned the reputation of being an astute horseman and prides himself on the rejuvenation of many gallopers back to winning form once having joined his stable.
