Uncle Phil Stays An Honest Type
Apr 16, 2013
The Marc Quinn stable continues to get results for their supporters and the recent meeting held at Taree was no exception for owners of the 4yo Redoute's Coice bay gelding Uncle Phil, out of a winning Snippets mare called Get To Work, whom raced 5 times for a 100% win/place ratio with earnings of just under $50,000 with a listed win and group and listed placing's.
Uncle Phil is a honest campaigner also having 10 starts in his career for 2 wins and three placings in a 50% win/place ratio.
The 4yo gelding headed to Taree off the back of two solid placing's, and was down to contest in the GREG DRURY RACING STABLES BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 2000m event on Tuesday the 16th of April, with in form jock Daniel Edmonds given the assignment to accompany the Marc Quinn charge.
From the gates it was a good line out with the Quinn pairing settleing around 8th past the post on the first occasion, leading into the back straight not to much had changed with Daniel monitoring any changes to the formality of the race, and with around 1100m to go Uncle Phil was tucked back in behind Another Glow and was nicely held together.
Turning for home and with around 350m to go Teilo had tried to shake the field off and headed for the line, but Edmonds who had quietly ridden his mount for the majority of the 2000m event let down with authority, and with 100m to go hit the line with a lap full of Marc Quinn preparation and convincingly took out the 6th event on the card by a 1 and 1/2 back to the pace setter Tielo.
Marc again was thankful to his owner group with whom he believes, his stables have some of the loyalist supporters in the business, and attributes most of their (and his) successors to a team effort.
Congratulations to all concerned with Uncle Phil's win at Taree.
