Cracker Night Brings Up A Stable Double For Owners And Trainer
Apr 22, 2014
Race five on the Port Macquarie race card saw Cracker Night line up in a benchmark 60 handicap over 1500m with claiming apprentice Taylor Marshall in charge of the favourite commodity.
On jumping Cracker Night was in a line of four, and on settling cruised along comfortably, with his head on his chest to sit in second position, relaxed with his home ground surroundings, with the order not changing too much throughout the early stages of the race.
Off the back straight movements were apparent as challenges come thick and fast prior to the turn.
On straightening Cracker Night was asked to go by Marshall and the four-year-old gelding responded to the call, taking charge of the race in dominant fashion to cruise to an easy victory, taking out the event by a length on the line in a time of 1:32.48 with the last 600m in a dashing 34.82.
The victory bought up an interesting double with trainer Marc Quinn saddling up the winners in race one and race five with connections, Mr and Mrs Kirwan owning both thoroughbreds, for a great day out for the supporters of the Marc Quinn yard.
