Andrew Adkins Enjoying The Ride

May 11, 2014

Marc Quinn has used a lot of experienced hoops in his career and there's a number of boxes that get ticked for the cream to rise to the top, a couple of these box’s pertain to willingness to learn, ability to listen and a get stuck in and get your hands dirty approach.

Marc believes Andrew Adkins has these attributes to turn the young apprentice into a credentialed jockey.

He’s first ride for Quinn almost resulted in a win when Adkins was aboard Cracker Night, which ran a close second to Brocks Star with experienced hoop Robert Agnew steering.

Quinn said his apprentice had an impressive first ride and did everything right.

The young jockey is determined to make a good go of a riding career, and study his craft under Quinn.

His career so far has been pleasing, with 59 rides for 5 wins and 17 placings.

Its early days yet for Andrew, but his attitude and ability are more beyond his years,

He's already made a good solid start and he listens to my advice and guidance, Marc added.

The youngster credited experienced riders Peter Graham and Daniel Edmond for taking him under their wing.

"They've been a great help," he said.
