Oct 11, 2014

The Marc Quinn prepared First Class To Rio headed out at the local Port thoroughbred meeting in race 4 in a BM 65 handicap over 1100 m with Andrew Adkins claiming 2 kg off the 57 kg allotted jumping from barrier 10 in a field of 10.

As the gates flew back the 10 runners jumped on terms with Zar Night heading to the lead on settling with Just Zam second on the plastic Curly Mac was between runners in third with First Class To Rio sliding across from an awkward gate to settling in a handy position early in the event.

On entering the straight the order was unchanged but that soon was about to turn with Adkins coming off heels and attempting to get outside runners for the Sprint home in the 1100 meter event.

Coming down to the line the beautifully prepared First Class To Rio was full steam ahead and as they greeted the judge it was First Class To Rio falling in by a head on the line to Za Night in second Curly Mac was third and Sprite Zah rounded out the top 4.

The time for the event was 1:06.26 with the last 600 m in 34.41 landing another victory for the five year old Mare for the connections consisting of Mr & Mrs Sargent, Ms Beh, Mr Zakris, Ms Cocksedge, & Mrs Cavallo. Well Done to Marc and Andrew, on a top class effort.
