Falklands Turns Back The Clock To Salute At The Gold Coast

The Marc Quinn team made the trip up the highway to the Gold Coast turf club race meeting on November 1 in race 2, supplying Falklands in a BM 75 handicap over 2200 with Chris Whiteley aboard jumping from barrier six in a field of six.
As the gates flew back in the staying event Whiteley had the Marc Quinn prepared Falklands out to lead to see easily on settling and coming past the winning post the first time around he led by a length and a half to Magic In Action with Serpent in second Lucky Day Kid rolled out in third before easing off the pace with Meadow Dreamer pushing up and as Serpent relaxed on the plastic some four lengths to Falklands coming around the back past the 1400m marker.
Coming round the side Falklands was still in charge under a grip from Whitley Magic In Action was on the rail in second Meadow Dreamer was between runners as Host Nation started to fan for the trip to the judge on straightening.
Into the straight Falklands appeared to come back to the field but under the urgings of the talented Chris Whiteley stoked up the stalwart to race to the lead joined within half a length by Lucky Day Kid, appearing he would appear run past Falklands but courage in the staying event prevailed landing the prize for the Port Macquarie runner with Host Nation finishing third.
